| Overview
The NU Research Centre was started as a laboratory for working towards the improvement of nephro-urology care. Through innovations and through the improvement of analytical techniques, the centre deals with the most complex of problems.
In addition to carrying out innovative scientific research, the centre's mandate is to ensure commitment towards the fostering of world-class scientific research and training, at the frontiers of science.
The centre, a not-for-profit venture and a hospital-aided institution, is the first-of-its-kind in India to specialised in nephro-urological research.
Our aim is to be a pioneer. We believe we possess all the necessary ingredients to excel in scientific research and education and look forward to growing further in the coming years.
Primary Areas of Research
Our main areas of research are:
-
Non-invasive therapy and the development of drugs for the treatment and prevention of calculi and for renal failure.
-
The role of nanobacteria in calculi formation and many other stomach and renal disorders are also of prime importance.
-
Animal tissue culture, the findings of which would be used for several surgical reconstruction procedures.
Future Activities
We aim to foray into mainframe research activities in order to develop analytical and diagnostic kits and to take nephro-urology care and research in India past the nascent stage that it is in now.
Although at present we aim to concentrate on research activities that provide clinically implementable results, for the future we are planning to expand our research activities into many other fields of equal medical significance. This would make our centre a multi-dimensional organisation.
Research Collaborations
Our faculty benefit from interacting with scientists at the many research institutions all over the country. We aim to create many collaborations over the years, both on-campus as well as off-campus. This will enable scientists from different fields to forge partnerships that could result in vital discoveries.
