Dietetics is application of the science of nutrition to human health and disease. Nutrition plays a vital role in the prevention, treatment and management of disease. The phrase ‘You are what you eat’ can’t be overstated. In chronic conditions like diabetes mellitus, kidney disease, malignancies or cardiovascular diseases, proper nutrition helps manage the condition better, prevents complications and improves the quality of life. The Nutrition and Dietetics department at NU Hospitals offers an integrated approach to the nutritional care with a goal to meet each patient’s unique nutritional needs.
Services Offered
- Personalized assessment and meal plans for conditions requiring dietary interventions like diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, kidney stones, gout, obesity and weight management disease, dyslipidemia and cardiovascular diseases.
- Nutritional care during hospital stay with regular assessments and diet counselling to aid in recovery and healing.
